Using a fiscal sponsorship arrangement offers a way for a cause to attract donors even when it is not yet recognized as tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)3. In essence the fiscal sponsor serves as the administrative “home” of the cause. Charitable contributions are given to the fiscal sponsor, which then grants them to support the cause.

A fiscal sponsor is a nonprofit organization that provides fiduciary oversight, financial management, and other administrative services to help build the capacity of charitable projects.

Fiscal Sponsorship – A 360 Degree Perspective

Sponsored organizations are not separate and isolated entities; rather they are an integral part of the mission of the Alliance. We receive charitable donations and grants on behalf of our sponsored organizations; maintain the necessary legal and financial infrastructure for all project activities, and distribute those finances in accordance with a signed agreement.

These organizations have been proposed to carry out a specific charitable purpose that fits within the stated objectives of the Christian Ministry Alliance. The organizations and their related projects must be approved by the CMA Executive Team for operation with an approved budget. At the end of the year, the sponsored organization must submit a brief report on how the finances were used and will keep the association updated through an annual report.
