What is fiscal sponsorship

Fiscal Sponsorship is a financial and legal system by which a legally recognized 501(c)(3) public charity (such as Christian Ministry Alliance) provides limited financial and legal oversight for a project initiated independently by an independent organization/project. That "project" is typically a Christian ministry nonprofit organization that does not have its own 501(c)(3) status. Once sponsored in this way, the organization in question, is considered a “project” of the Alliance and is eligible to solicit grants and tax-deductible contributions to the Alliance for the purposes of their work.

The Christian Ministry Alliance can serve as a U.S. Fiscal Sponsor for Foreign Charities. If a foreign charity has donors or potential donors in the United States, the Alliance can receipt those donors’ gifts and then make grants to the foreign charity so that those donors can receive a U.S. tax deduction for their charitable gifts to foreign charities. If a foreign charity sets up an agreement with the Alliance, the charity can link its website to a targeted giving page to receive charitable gifts via online giving. If your organization has U.S. ex-patriot donors in-country who would like to support your organization, the Alliance can receipt their gifts as well, giving them a U.S. tax deduction.

Step Two

Complete an FSO application

After our call, you'll complete a brief online application allowing us to get to know you and your family (if applicable) better, as well as create the bones of your user account and public profile. If you have questions please feel free to contact us and we will gladly walk you through it.

Step Three

Sign the Fiscal Sponsor Agreement

After our call, and a formally approved FSO application, we will forward you a completed Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement that will require an authorized signature. This signature must be on file before we can complete setting your organization up as a formal FSO.
