Peter Senghana and his wife Rosemary first opened their one-room home to their first two children in 2004, and have been adding to their family home ever since. Peter and Rosemary now have 28 children, ranging in age from 4 to 20. When the children become young adults, they do not leave them to fend for themselves. They continue to help these young adults, providing a home and food, just as parents would.
The Senghnas and their children live and work together to help each other thrive. They have a garden that must be watered by hand. They have some chickens and goats to supplement the garden and as well as provide a little income. They do school work and play together.
All the children go to school, which is a feat in itself. They walk or ride bicycles 4-6 kilometers each way. Sometimes 2 on a bike. Although the government school tuition is free, the family is required to provide the uniform and stationery. All of these lovelies are eager to learn, and so happy to get their school supplies at Christmas. One sweet little boy slept with his new uniform by his bed for a week before school started.
All of the family loves Jesus! They all go to church, and it’s such a blessing to see those littles raising their hands and singing praise. They pray everyday for my family, and all who sponsor them. They know how God loves them. Even in their poverty, they rest assured that God provides for them.
Their first children approached Peter and Rosemary on the streets, begging Peter to take them home, as their parents had died, and they were left to fend for themselves or die as well. Peter and Rosemary brought them to their ‘home’: a cement block room with no water and no furniture. They shared what little food they had. That’s how it started. Willing to share, and go hungry, to provide for these little children. And they’ve just gone on from there. Collecting children who would otherwise die. They can’t say no.
Peter and Rosemary would like to have even more children. Their hearts are overflowing with God’s love for these little lost ones.
