The Problem
50% of pastors and missionaries drop out within the first five years of service. Electronic communications have cheaply replaced in-person visits and interpersonal care – these field workers feel isolated and lonely. This turnover means that the gospel is sometimes no longer preached, and communities suffer.
The Ministry
The KCT Encouragement Project is inspired by Kathleen C. Tenney, mother and chief encourager of our founder, Jon Tenney. Jon is trained in youth ministry and missions work, and desires to help field workers like pastors, church-planters and missionaries stay connected to the larger Body of Christ.
The Work
KCT is dedicated to ministering to these field workers to refresh their hearts, marriages, families and faith. We do this with in-person visits and monthly phone calls, extending the right hand of fellowship as peers who require nothing in return. KCT will also select a limited number of leadership trainees/disciples who have the gifts of encouragement and a desire to create long-term friendships that will help foster and maintain flourishing relationships to continue to sustain these ministers and their communities.
The Commission
“I rejoice over the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have supplied what was lacking on your part. For they have refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore acknowledge such men.” 1 Corinthians 16:17-18
“…a faithful envoy brings healing.” Proverbs 13:17b
The Power of You
Your gifts help us compensate and send these envoys as well as provide small gifts of encouragement, support and counseling to field workers. Your regular support enables us to provide gifts of Bibles, Sunday School resources, building supplies, farm and garden supplies, educational and technical support to domestic and international communities.
