Known For: Stewarding truth in the digital age.
Every day, people type their most honest questions into a search bar. Questions about pain, doubt, purpose, and God. Often late at night, and often long before they would ever say those words out loud to another person.
Too often, the Church is not there when they search.
Known For exists to change that. We are a Christian nonprofit ministry that brings nearly twenty years of professional search expertise to the Church, so that when someone searches for hope, truth and the hope of Jesus are there to meet them.
What we do
- Project Canonical. The evangelistic heart of Known For. We research the questions people are asking about faith, meaning, and wellbeing, then publish clear, trustworthy, biblically grounded answers where people are searching, in both English and Spanish.
- Equipping churches and ministries. We help churches and Christian nonprofits become accurate and findable in search engines and AI tools, from content structure and technical foundations to staff training on wise, responsible use of AI.
- Built once, serving many. We build this work as a reproducible system, so one investment can serve many churches at once without adding to anyone’s workload.
Who we are
Known For was founded by Sheena Schleicher (with Steven Schleicher). For nearly two decades, we have helped some of the most recognized brands in the world get found by the people searching for them. We believe God has been preparing us for this work all along, and we want to steward it well.
Known For is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, guided by an independent board of directors and a small group of trusted ministry advisors. Our 501(c)(3) application is underway, and we are grateful to partner with Christian Ministry Alliance as our fiscal sponsor in the meantime.
Partner with us
We never want a lack of funds to keep a church from taking part in this work. That is only possible through the generosity of people who share this burden. Here is how you can help:
- Pray for the people searching, for the churches we serve, and for wisdom as we build.
- Give to help fund research, content, and the tools that put the hope of Jesus in front of people searching for it.
- Connect us with a church or ministry leader who wants to reach their community through search.
