Uncommon Neighbor is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: One host home opening its doors to three women in need of safe, stable housing. That small beginning has encouraged further expansion, with six host homes offering refuge and community to individuals at risk due to housing insecurity.
As more people are drawn to the vision of living missionally, Uncommon Neighbor aspires to grow into a nonprofit organization. Its purpose is to equip and support anyone who wants to open their home—providing training, practical tools, and ongoing relational support. The goal is to make it possible for everyday people to become hosts and create spaces of dignity, healing, and belonging.
Uncommon Neighbor is building a future where radical hospitality becomes a shared way of life—and where no one has to face housing instability alone.
Guided by the compassion and justice of Deuteronomy 24, we exist to provide safe housing, intentional mentoring, and genuine friendship for those pushed to the margins of society. Remembering our own story of redemption, we cultivate spaces of belonging and restoration. We seek to embody the love, hospitality, and hope of Jesus in practical, transformative ways.
