In our interventions, those who never walked in life were 150they have fully recovered, walking normally, children who have been confined indoors, have resumed education, and are able to go church and play with friends, this is through counselling and therapy, these manifested due to various causes, ranging from congenital deformities, stroke, road traffic accidents, machine cuts, amputation etc. And 960 have benefited from mobility devices. People with disabilities in the West Nile region face numerous challenges, including limited access to healthcare, inadequate support for mobility, malnutrition, and the social stigma associated with disabilities. These challenges not only hinder their ability to live fulfilling lives but also affect their families and communities. Through the support of the World Action Fund, this project takes a holistic approach by delivering services directly to the homes of PWDs. This ensures accessibility for individuals who are unable to travel to healthcare facilities due to mobility constraints or financial challenges. The program focuses on five key areas: a) Home-Based Therapy: Providing physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to enhance physical and functional independence. b) Medical Care: Delivering essential healthcare services, including treatment for chronic conditions and regular check-ups. c) Counseling: Offering psychosocial support to address mental health challenges and reduce stigma through community sensitization. d) Nutritional Support: Improving the nutritional status of PWDs through dietary planning and the provision of essential supplements. e) Repair of Mobility Devices: Establishing workshops for the maintenance and repair of wheelchairs, crutches, and other assistive devices to ensure uninterrupted use. This project is designed to empower PWDs by addressing their immediate needs while also building a foundation for long-term sustainability through local capacity building. By improving their physical and mental health, mobility, and social inclusion, the project aims to foster an environment where PWDs can lead dignified and independent lives.
